Chrono Trigger 2: Chrono Cross
article by Hyuga

Yes, Chrono Trigger 2. This game is all the rage, and has all the rage among RPG fans now. Chrono Trigger 2, or Chrono Cross, is official for the PSX. Xenogears had been the spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger due to having the same development team, but now a real successor has been confirmed.

The Chrono Cross story starts with the Japanese Square web site, which put up a Chrono Trigger page, possibly to regain interest in the game and a sequel. About a week later, scans from a magazine in Japan were released to the hungry RPG fans in North America, and surprise, surprise, it was Chrono Trigger's sequel.

Chrono Cross shocked everyone as it was in 3D, much the same way that Final Fantasy VII and VIII are. For more information on Chrono Cross, visit
RPGamer.

So, what does Chrono Cross have to do with Xenogears? Yasunori Mitsuda, the sound composer for both Xenogears and Chrono Trigger is now back behind the helm for Chrono Cross. In fact, he released a demo mp3 of one of the Chrono Cross tunes, available at RPGamer for download. If you've heard Xenogears Creid, you'll notice some similarities between those remakes and Chrono Cross's song. We'll obtain permission from RPGamer so that we can feature the unique downloads of these samplers.

Chrono Cross is slated for a Japanese release in Winter '99. Chrono Cross has also been confirmed for a North American release, which will be revealed in the future.
